Train the Trainer Part 4: Sell Your Course
Marketing suggestions
There are so many ways to market the course you’ve created! The key is to start with just 1 or 2, maybe 3, strategies. Don't overwhelm yourself, and start slow. This way you can also measure the success of the strategy you’ve chosen. Some strategies (like SEO) are long-term, while others (like an email campaign) are short-term. So it is perfectly reasonable to pick one long-term and one short-term strategy.
Here are a few general marketing suggestions to help get your creative juices flowing:
-
Early-bird discounts: Run early-bird discounts for a limited time so that you encourage potential attendees to register. It's important to market and promote these discounts (on your social media platforms, in your newsletter, etc.) so that people know about them.
-
Email marketing: Send emails to your list (Embodia markets to our list - if you’d like to see our marketing emails, you can subscribe to our list here).
-
Social media marketing: This could be through organic posts (free for anyone to post), or through paid ads on social media (if you're willing to pay for advertising).
-
Blogs: The content you write could focus on a course overview including only high-level details - users might want to learn more and end up buying your course. But don't forget to add CTAs (Call-to-Actions) throughout the blog linking to your course. Learn more about CTA’s and other marketing jargon in this guide.
-
Promotion partnerships: Reach out to potential affiliates/associations who could promote the course on your behalf.
-
Tip: Don’t be afraid to ask colleagues, industry friends, or past students to share your course as well. A personal recommendation goes a long way!
-
-
Facebook groups: Post about your course in Facebook groups used by your target audience (e.g., a lot of physiotherapists tend to ask for feedback about physiotherapy courses in such groups).
-
Webinars: Run a free live webinar on Embodia, and promote your course during that webinar. Learn more about running a free webinar in this guide.
-
Giveaways: You can run a giveaway on your social media accounts or even partner with us for a giveaway on Embodia’s Instagram (we typically run giveaways once per quarter); this extra exposure can lead to a higher awareness of your course(s).
-
Podcasts: Join podcasts as a guest and talk about your course, or start your own podcast.
-
Tip: Recording your podcasts in video format would allow you to recycle that content to social media and YouTube.
-
-
Conference presentations: You can run a presentation at relevant conferences whose audiences align with your target demographic.
-
SEO (Search Engine Optimization): All about helping people find your course more easily on search engines. When someone searches for a topic related to your course, you want your course to show up near the top of the search results. SEO helps with that! The better the SEO, the more likely people are to discover your course and enroll in it. Embodia has strong SEO strategies and handles this for you on your course and webinar page(s) but, there are additional ways you can assist with SEO as well. More on what SEO is and what you can do about it in the lesson, All about SEO.
